We've been absent for a bit. Life, health and hardships got us off track. I am not going to dwell on the bad because I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel and am ready to focus on what this blog is all about - GOALS!
Most relevant to us right now is the goal to see the Mission play in Toronto in September. For those just joining us, this goes beyond being on Melina's bucket list. This might just BE her bucket list! Anyone who has ever connected to a piece of art and been changed by it should begin to understand how Melina felt about the Mission in her difficult teens. We are going to make this happen. The setbacks we have had lately have had a huge impact on us financially, but I refuse to allow this to impact us taking this trip! My hands have bled from making jewelry. I will make this happen!
Long term, the goal remains that house in the country, being a full time writer. Why do I want to live in the Annapolis Valley? Because this is what it looks like:
The feeling of peace I have when there is indescribable. It is like coming back to my true home.
Every morning I will spend a few minutes centering myself and focussing on what I am working towards. We have also been getting Witchy with it again, but that sounds flippant. It is important because in truth I have been connecting with faith again and that could not be a bigger deal.
Working every angle to make these goals reality. We're back!!
Life should be about goals. Without something to work towards, why do we get out of bed in the morning? It keeps things jazzy. That's what this blog is about; our goals and how we get there. Woot!
Here's the thing: we never have only one goal kicking around. We are working towards buying a house, buying a car, being a writer or painter respectively. More immediate is that we are working on losing weight and being healthy. Bionic even!
But the biggest, greatest, most stupendously huge thing that we are working towards is a TRIP! Not a massive one in terms of location but ... (dot dot dot ... suspense building ...)
I feel weird even talking about this because this is so exciting to Melina. I will let her explain what seeing the Mish (that's what those in the know call them) means to her. Let me just say that if I mention our trip to Toronto to see them, she literally starts bouncing.
The plan is to go see them play, spend the next day in Toronto and then take the train to Montreal for a few days. GOAL! Requires, money and planning and I'm gonna lose weight because there will be shopping. Oh yes. There will be shopping.
So many goals, so little time. What are yours?

What the Mission UK means to me is, OMG, I've loved them for so long I don't know when it first began. Was it 1985? Or was it early 1986? I'm not sure, I think it was 1985. Wow, did I digress or what?
I love the music, which should be obvious. The first song I heard was 'Wasteland', and loved it. It touched something in my soul, and somehow made me feel hope. I didn't have much hope at that point in my life. Everything felt grim and painful, and like that would never ever change. But the opening strains of jangly guitar and rising vocals gave me something to hold on to.
For the last 27 years, I have. And I had given up hope of seeing this amazing band live, but then I saw that they were not only mostly reformed (why Mick isn't back I don't know, but must suppose he has his reasons) and doing a short tour of North America in the fall. I finally will see my favourite band!!!
